Author Daniel Goleman brought the term EI to prominence with his book Emotional Intelligence. He has helped the world understand a new predictor for intelligence and success, other than IQ.

Goleman is fascinated by the concepts of empathy and compassion. In particular, he tries to understand why humans so often ignore these feelings when they apparently seem so easy.
