Variety of world class dishes for charity
Six Australian Chefs and Calabria Family Wines are pulling out all the stops for the annual Variety of Chefs this year.

The Variety of Chefs Gala dinner has been an annual feature in the calendar of charity events in Sydney for the last 8 years. This year will be no exception with the impressive list of Chefs and dishes on offer at the winter gala in June.

The cavernous spaces of the Australian Technology Park, once home to Australia’s largest industrial locomotive complex, will be transformed once again into a beautiful dinning hall for hundreds of guests.

The chef list is a ‘who’s who’ of the top emerging and established chefs in the Australian culinary scene. The menu includes:

Canapés

Maz Valcorza, aka the ‘wholefoods Jedi’, Head of Sadhana Kitchen and author of The Naked Vegan, featured in the April 2016 issue of MiNDFOOD magazine.

Entrees

Telina Menzies, meat-smoking master, 2011 AHA Cookery Service Award Winner, and National Executive Chef for Publican Group Australia.

Justin North, GQ 2010 Chef of the Year, Head Chef at the refurbished Hotel Centennial in Woollahra.

Main courses

Master of meat, from Melbourne’s renowned La Luna, Adrian Richardson and stunning yet health-conscious creations from Sydney’s O Bar and Dining, Chef Michael Moore.

Dessert

Two-time winner of the Pastry Chef of the Year award, John Ralley from Textbook Boulangerie Patisserie, pulls out all the stops for a visual and taste experience of a lifetime…. think Australian classic treat stylishly reconstructed.

The Cause

This decadent six course meal is an indulgence aiding the children’s charity, Variety. Variety is an organisation that is providing families and children who are disadvantaged, or have medical and or special needs, with resources and or financial support.

“Variety – the Children’s Charity empowers Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn. Variety supports over 1,200 families in need every month through the provision of vital equipment and services.”

Money raised by the sale of tickets to the Variety of Chefs goes to recipients like five year old Samuel, who we met at the gala preview. Samuel’s mother Natalie spoke with us about the immense gratitude she feels for donors, who’s support through Variety gave her family the help needed to adjust to the physical challenges of raising a child with a disability. You can read more about Samuel and his family at variety.org.au/nsw/how-we-help.

If you’d like to feast with a conscience this June, grab a ticket before they sell out.
