Tried & tested: Lip gloss

By MiNDFOOD

Lips with high shine, alluring colour and
kiss-me-now flavours
are hard to resist.
Our Beauty Editor,
Milly Nolan, tests six
of the best lip glosses
with pretty pink hues
and luscious texture, MiNDFOOD reports.

YVES SAINT LAURENT

Gloss Pur in Pure Rose, RRP $47

Beyond the good looks of this beautifully packaged lip gloss, the brush easily applied the rich gloss formula to my lips, accentuating them with sheer peach-pink colour and intense, sparkle-free shine. The delicious mango scent made licking hard to resist, but the temptation to do so was foiled by the fact that my
lips looked too good to spoil.

ESTÉE LAUDER

High Gloss Ultra Brilliance
in Blush, RRP $40

The first thing I noticed about this lip gloss was its delectable,
fruity smell. I loved the way,
with its creamy texture, it slid onto
my lips, drenching them
in a pretty pink hue and giving them superb
shine. My lips felt softer, thanks to the conditioning ingredients in
the formula, and somehow looked fuller,
too. This lip gloss is perfect
for creating
a soft, feminine look.

CHANEL

Rouge Allure Laque
in Ming, RRP $55

A new interpretation
of Chanel’s luscious Rouge Allure lipstick, this
lip gloss did not disappoint, offering instant and intense colour that
glided
on easily and left my lips feeling hydrated and looking plump.
The overall visual effect was more like that of a lipstick with
a
lacquered finish. What’s more, it lasted all day and well into the
night.

REVLON

Crème Gloss
in Slip Into Pink, RRP $24

The practical twist action of this lip gloss allowed me to control the amount of gloss needed, which is handy, as a little goes a long way. Because it has a thick texture
it is best applied using a mirror
to ensure perfect application.
Once applied, the deeply pigmented colour is more than impressive. Looking more like a lipstick with intense shine, this is the perfect lip gloss to wear in
the evening or when you want your look to have that extra impact.

SMASHBOX

Lip Paint in Virtuoso, RRP $45

If it’s high shine you’re after, this is the lip gloss for you. On first contact with my lips it was stubborn to apply. However, as I applied more layers it became smoother and my lips became glossier and more richly coloured. Try layering the lip gloss over other shades in the Smashbox Lip Paint range to create a unique colour, or apply the lip gloss over lipstick for added shine. Its shiny texture will draw attention to your pout.

L’ORÉAL PARIS

Glam Shine 6H Lip Gloss
in Always Pink, RRP $30

This lip gloss feels, smells and looks so good that it’s difficult
not to become addicted to using it. It’s little wonder, then, it was one of L’Oréal’s best-selling products for 2008. You can almost feel the formula soaking into
your lips, which explains how they managed to remain the perfect pink for so long – up to six hours, in fact. It’s ideal to wear during the day or night.
