Super Start Your Skin

By Nicole Saunders

Super Start Your Skin
Spring's the perfect time to give your beauty regimen a makeover.

Snack on super foods

Load up your lunchbox with avocado, chia and pumpkin seeds. Avocados are not only packed with healthy fats that keep you feeling satisfied, they’re loaded with a host of vitamins – C, K, E and B – and magnesium which keep hair silky smooth, skin radiant and nails strong.

Mix a couple of tablespoons of chia seeds with a dash or two of almond milk, mix in a handful of blueberries, sprinkle with pumpkin seeds and you’ve got an afternoon snack loaded with omega-3, protein and fibre.

Boost your skincare regimen

Our skin often needs extra love and attention over the post-winter months but it’s sometimes hard to find a nourishing skincare solution that doesn’t weigh your skin down. The incredibly lightweight formula of Elizabeth Arden’s game-changing Superstart Skin Renewal Booster not only strengthens and hydrates your complexion, it makes your skin more receptive to the rest of your skincare routine. Use Superstart as the first step after cleansing, twice a day, for healthy, beautiful skin.

Spring clean your beauty cabinet

It may seem like a harmless move to keep using skincare and cosmetics once they’ve passed their use-by date, but your favourite moisturiser can quickly become the ideal breeding ground for harmful bacteria. Skincare products have a Period After Opening symbol on them – a tiny open jar with a number followed by M – to indicate how many months you can safely use a product for before you need to throw it away. When it comes to cosmetics – foundations and concealers: 6 months to 1 year, mascaras and liquid eyeliners: 4 to 6 months, and powder-based products: 2 to 3 years.

Scrub up your tools

Expired beauty products aren’t the only offenders lurking in your beauty cabinet – breakout-causing bacteria love to reside in dirty make-up brushes. Keep bacteria at bay by cleaning your brushes thoroughly with warm water and soap once they becomes stiff or you start to notice a build-up of make-up on them. Make sure you’re gentle when you clean them as brushes can lose their shape quickly.
