“They’re engaged and very happy” a source told PEOPLE. It’s news that coincides with Johannson stepping out on the red carpet to promote her new sci-fi flick Under the Skin at the Venice Film Festival, an Art Deco diamond sparkler adorning her ring finger.
This will be the 28-year-old Avengers actress’s second time down the aisle, after her first marriage to Ryan Reynolds ended in divorce after two years. Reynolds was quicker to move on, marrying Blake Lively just over a year out from his separation from Johannson.
Johansson had previously said she was in no rush to tie the knot again:
“I got married when I was young and it was incredibly romantic and I liked being married, actually,” she said.
“But it is different. It’s hard to put into words. To me, being in a functioning relationship doesn’t mean you have to be married.
“I never think about marriage. Is that weird? The only time I ever think about it is when people ask me. It’s really not important to me.”
