Okewa isn’t a household name yet but we predict it soon will be if the prototypes of its stylish range of rainwear are anything to go by.
Okewa’s Wellington-based founders Nick and Nevada Leckie believe they’ve designed “a decent raincoat suited for the urban lifestyle” and we agree.
The couple say the outdoors adventure market is well-supported by highly functional rainwear but many of the options just don’t fit the city, particularly in Wellington where they live without a car.
They have developed a premium range of men’s and women’s raincoats that are lined, completely waterproof (fully seam-sealed), hooded and cut from hi-tech two-layer waterproof fabrics woven in the best fabric mills in Japan and Korea.
The pair have launched a crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter.com to help with initial funding, which runs until August 23. If you like what you see here, check it out.
