MiNDFOOD Radio nominated for prestigious Australian radio award
MiNDFOOD radio is a finalist for this year’s prestigious Australian Commercial Radio Industry (ACRA) Awards 2013.

Selected as one of five nominees, MiNDFOOD Radio is in the running to win the coveted title of Australia’s Best Syndicated Radio program.

The news come after this week’s announcement of the award’s finalists, after a record number of entries – nearly 1300 from over 260 metropolitan and regional radio stations across the country – were submitted.

“We are pleasantly surprised at being included amongst this year’s finalists in ACRA’s Best Syndicated Radio program category  As a brand new show it’s heartening to share the honour alongside shows that have been on the airwaves for many, many years,” MiNDFOOD Radio co-host and the brand’s editor-in-chief Michael McHugh says of the announcement.

Now in their 25th year, the ACRA awards are designed to recognise excellence in all areas of national radio broadcasting; including news, talk, sport, music and entertainment.

Commercial Radio Australia’s chief executive officer, Joan Warner, believes the ACRA’s are a major highlight of the radio industry calendar: “Regional, country and metropolitan radio personalities, executives and station staff all come together to celebrate excellence and achievement in the industry,” Warner said.

The 34 award categories are all peer judged by industry members from a wide cross-section of the commercial radio industry, advertising agencies, production houses and educational institutions.

Judges devote countless hours of their time for the painstaking task of selecting the ACRA finalists. Winners are then awarded across three divisions in each category: metropolitan, provincial and country commercial radio stations.

Celebrated categories include: Best Current Affairs Presenter, Best Talk Presenter, Best Music Presenter and recognising the innovation and development of digital radio in Australia, Best New Digital Radio Format.

MiNDFOOD Radio is currently in its second year of production after hitting national and rural airwaves at the beginning of 2012. Co-hosted by MiNDFOOD’s editor-in-chief Michael McHugh and radio personality Ben Starr, the weekly hour long program broadcasts to over 30 stations – both national and rural.
