Electrolux Appetite for Excellence 2013 winners announced

Electrolux announce the next generation of culinary stars at the 2013 Appetite for Excellence Awards.

One of the industry’s most revered awards, the Electrolux Appetite for Excellence has long been regarded as a barometer for culinary talent. Previous winners have included  Katrina Birchmeier, Jake  Matt Dempsey, Richard Ousby and Beau Vincent.

This year’s awards were presented by Master of Ceremonies, Lyndey Milan, who paid tribute to the next generation of culinary stars at the Hilton on the Park in Melbourne. See the full list of winners below.

Electrolux Australian Young Chef 2013

Winner: Jacob Davey, 29, Sous Chef, Marque Restaurant (Sydney)
Runner Up:  Braden White, 26, Head Chef, Hatch & Co. (Brisbane)
Highly Commended: Josh Niland, 24, Head Chef, Fish Face (Sydney)

Electrolux Australian Young Waiter 2013
Winner:  Sonia Bandera, 27, Sommelier, Rockpool Bar & Grill (Melbourne)
Runner Up:  Hugh Holland, 25, Food & Bev Attendant, RACV City Club (Melbourne)
Highly Commended: Breanna Lawler, 23, Assistant Mgr, Flying Fish Restaurant & Bar (Sydney)

Winner:  James Viles, 33, Executive Chef & Owner, Biota Dining (Bowral, NSW)

Each of the winners receive an opportunity to expand their food and wine skills by learning from the world’s best chefs and be inspired by their international travels.
