At the ripe age of 91, the Hot In Cleveland sitcom star beat a stellar list of younger peers, including Oscar winners Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks as well as British songstress Adele, to take out the title.
The survey, conducted by E-poll Market Research, ranked almost 8,000 celebrities based on the views of more than 1,000 Americans aged 13 and up.
White, who has won the title twice before, finished on top alongside actors Morgan Freeman and Carol Burnett, US Olympian Gabby Douglas, NCIS stars Cote de Pablo and Pauley Perrette, as well as Britain’s Maggie Smith and Adele.
The actress, currently in her seventh decade of show business, began her stellar career in 1939, when she and a high school classmate performed a series of songs form The Merry Widow on an early TV program in Los Angeles.
The show biz veteran is most well known for her roles on popular TV series, as Sue on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rose from The Golden Girls. More recently the television icon’s career has gained steam again with cameo appearances in popular Hollywood films, proving her sharp with and humour only gets better with age.
