If you’re going to hold a fashion extravaganza filled with fashion, theatre and extravagance then Baz Luhrmann is your man.
Luckily for Melbourne Emporium, Luhrmann, whose movie credits include Moulin Rouge and Romeo & Juliet, took on the job of creating the vision for its grand gala launch event on August 20.
The space has been dramatically transformed since it first opened its doors as the Myer Emporium in 1911. Since April, many prestigious stores including Michael Kors, Kate Spade New York, Dion Lee, Victoria’s Secret, Coach, Furla and Topshop have opened within, and more are to come.
At the opening cabaret dancers, and models dressed in high fashion treading grapes with their bare feet were part of the entertainment and ambience.
Two hundred lucky customers got the opportunity to walk the red carpet.
