Celebrities are lending their high profile to highlight key environmental issues.

Cate Blanchett

In 2011 Cate Blanchett appeared in a pro-carbon tax advertisement. The actor is Ambassador for the Australian Conservation Foundation, a position that involves lobbying politicians and communities to tackle issues around climate change and conservation.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio established his own Foundation in 1998 with the mission to protect wilderness areas still remaining. DiCaprio is the United Nations Messenger of Peace for Climate Change and received the 2014 Clinton Global Citizen Award.

Emma Thompson

Emma Thompson is an active Greenpeace activist who has spoken out particularly on the issue of Shell’s drilling in the Arctic and it’s effect on Climate Change. She regularly leads campaigners in protests in her home town of London.

Hayden Panettiere

Hayden Panettiere has been honoured with an Environmental Media Award for her work as spokesperson for the Whaleman Foundation, protecting dolphins, whales and oceans. Panettiere also speaks at Greenpeace events and raises money for Save the Whales.

Matt Damon

Matt Damon founded H2O Africa, a program providing clean water to African communities. The nonprofit finances poor communities to build plumbing infrastructure such as toilets and access to clean water supplies.
